| Captain William Wells Personal Profile Captain William Wells Master Mariner, is a former ship's captain and commercial marine pilot, whose career at sea lasted just short of 49 years. Internationally recognised as an informative and entertaining "Topic-Expert" speaker, he is an active Member of the Professional Speakers Association, Member of the International Federation of Public Speakers and a former Vice President of Toastmasters International. He is also the author of a complete training manual commissioned by the Bahrain Petroleum Co. for their trainee Tug Captains and Marine Pilots. With a wide ranging programme he speaks regularly at conferences and seminars with passion, enthusiasm and great authority. He is in frequent demand to speak to a wide variety of audience including aboard cruise ships and many national organisations such as BBC Radio. Born in New Zealand, he won a scholarship and travelled to England to train as a Navigating Officer in the British Merchant Navy. Finding himself on the 'fast track' for promotion, he rose to the rank of Captain by the age of 28. As a Commercial Marine Pilot, Captain Wells has handled over 8,000 ships including many of the world's largest passenger liners, oil tankers and warships, operating as far afield as the Middle East, Bahamas, Dover Straits & North Sea as well as in his home port, the Port of London. |
